Anaïs Vindel

Anaïs Vindel sculpts soft ochre forms on paper and canvas, forms that refer back to earth.

They are an ode to early ceramic culture and, more broadly, to the Hellenistic culture of the Mediterranean. Her technique on canvas, holding warm tones, is a return to origins. The works are recollections of journeys, of sunsets, of sensations and memories.

In this way Anaïs takes in a whole chronology of references to human making and to the history of painting through the ages — a calming world of her own, recognisable in the delicacy of its harmonies of form and colour.

In these works the artist handles the brush by playing with shades of dark ink and brown tones. The roundness characteristic of her work creates a warm, calming atmosphere. Anaïs Vindel encourages a deep connection with feeling and inward reflection. She shapes a luminous dynamic in her work: dark and brown shades, set against touches of ochre, create depth and play with light and shadow.

Each painting becomes an experience of colour and light.
